As you may know, Mayor de Blasio announced that NYC will require proof of at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine for customers and workers at public-facing businesses including indoor dining, gym, performance, and entertainment establishments starting August 17th. Inspections and enforcement will begin the week of September 13. This does not apply to non-public facing businesses such as manufacturers, fabricators, and warehouses.
Starting August 17th, staff and customers age 12 and older will be required to show proof they have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine authorized for emergency use by the FDA or WHO for:
- Movie theaters
- Music and concert venues
- Museums & galleries
- Aquariums & zoos

To show proof of vaccination, workers and patrons can show a paper vaccination card, the Excelsior pass, the NYC COVID Safe app, or a photo or hard copy of an official vaccination record of a vaccine administered outside the United States for one of the following vaccines: AstraZeneca/SK Bioscience, Serum Institute of India/COVISHIELD and Vaxzevria, Sinopharm, or Sinovac. The NYS Excelsior Plus Pass accesses the NYS vaccine database and creates a QR code that can be scanned by a venue. You are also able to upload proof of a negative test. The NYC COVID Safe app stores a photo of your ID as well as a photo of your paper vaccination card. You are also able to upload a photo of a negative test.
