City of Yes for Economic Opportunity Hearing  Monday 4/8/24

Evergreen has been closely following the progress of the City of Yes for Economic Opportunity legislation. This set of 18 proposals would represent one of the biggest changes to NYC zoning code in decades. Some of the proposals focus on M-zones, most particularly #18 which would establish three new zoning districts: M3A “Core,” M2A “Transition,” and M1A “Growth.” You can find a distillation of Evergreen’s main points of support and our desired changes in this presentation we recently gave at our “Briefing & Brews” event.

The proposal will have a hearing before City Council at their Land Use Subcommittee meeting Monday, April 8, starting at 10:30 AM at City Hall Chambers. We will be there to testify, and you are welcome to do so as well.

Instructions on how to register to testify in person are available here.

If you cannot make it, written testimony can instead be sent to landusetestimony@council.nyc.gov by April 11th.

You can stream the hearing online here.

If you would like sample testimony, or assistance preparing your testimony, contact Stephen Fabian at sfabian@evergreenexchange.org. The proposal will be voted on by the full NYC Council at a meeting sometime in May.

Additionally, the Industrial Jobs Coalition has put together a sign-on letter in support of our favored industrial growth provisions as well as an FAQ that you can read here. This coalition includes Evergreen and all of our colleague industrial service provider organizations around the city and other partners. We are trying to get as many businesses as we can to add their voice to this letter by signing on.

You can sign-on here
