Evergreen Spotlight: Ford Regulator Valve Corp.

We are excited to introduce our newest tenant, Ford Regulator. They moved into 500 Stagg Street in May. They have been in operation for more than 130 years. Their last home was on Varet Street, where the company was under the ownership of the Tuzzolo family for the past 60 years. Ford Regulator specializes in the machining of water valves, which are used for a variety of applications including construction and mining.

In January, Mike Tuzzolo called us. He’s been involved with Evergreen for years. He told us Ford was not going to be able to stay in their Varet Street facility any longer and they needed to move. Not only that, but Mike and his brother Joe were on the verge of selling the business to a client of theirs, Charles “Chaz” Portera. The sale was contingent on having a location to keep the business in operation. The Tuzzolos and Chaz were committed to keeping Ford Regulator in Williamsburg so that their local employees would be able to continue working for them.

We had space opening up at 500 Stagg and we were thrilled to be involved in keeping Ford Regulator local. It’s a great fit for our mission to create and retain local jobs. We got a deal done with Chaz. Besides allowing a longtime business to stay in the neighborhood, we know that we are helping this business enter an exciting new phase under new ownership, as Chaz intends to expand the workforce down the line once they get more settled in – though Mike and Joe are sticking around as employees to aid with the transition.

Special thanks to Leah, Stephen, and all those involved at Evergreen. It’s been an absolute pleasure working with everyone, we appreciate all that you do. With your help we’ve secured our place in Brooklyn, ensuring the 130 year legacy of Ford Regulator Valve Corp. thrives in its hometown.
