Advocacy

Evergreen strives to bridge the gap between businesses and government agencies to ensure the city fosters a thriving manufacturing and industrial environment.

The advocacy work Evergreen does benefits both individual firms and the industrial business community as a whole. We work with city and state agencies to communicate the unique challenges facing industrial businesses in NYC and promote policies that encourage business and job growth, such as incentive and financing programs. Evergreen endorses local land use policies to preserve and grow manufacturing jobs. We represent the industrial community during city and state transportation and infrastructure planning. Staff members actively serve on the boards of the Urban Manufacturing Alliance, Brooklyn Navy Yard, Community Board 1, and the Newtown Creek Alliance.

Environment

Evergreen actively participates in the Community Advisory Groups for both the Newtown Creek Superfund and the Meeker Avenue Plume, ensuring that local businesses and residents have a voice in environmental cleanup efforts and advocating for outcomes that support public health, environmental justice, and the long-term vitality of the industrial community.

Jobs

Evergreen champions policies that expand access to good-paying, low-barrier manufacturing jobs—offering underserved New Yorkers pathways to economic mobility while advancing a more equitable and inclusive local economy.

Land Use

As part of the Industrial Jobs Coalition—a citywide alliance of community organizations, advocates, and service providers—Evergreen supports policies that protect industrial space and preserve quality manufacturing jobs, ensuring long-term economic opportunities for New Yorkers.

Transportation

We advocate for transportation solutions that support the needs of industrial businesses, working closely with the NYC Department of Transportation and the MTA to improve truck access, reduce congestion, and enhance public transit options for the industrial workforce.
